HOW TO MAKE A SIMPLE BUT EFFECTIVE COUGH SYRUP FROM YOUR KITCHEN.

Things needed are 1. Powdered Sugar or granulated sugar 2. Onions PREPARATION Slice about six to seven(6-7) onion bulb into a bowl. Spread half glass of powdered or granulated sugar on the sliced onions and keep it overnight. In the morning, the sugar will melt the onions into syrup. Pour the mixture into a bottle or a plastic container. Your cough syrup is ready. An adult can take two spoons twice a day to relief serious cough. A child below 10 years can take a table spoon twice a day. NOTE:  YOU CAN USE MORE ONIONS DEPENDING ON THE QUANTITY YOU NEED AND SO THE QUANTITY OF SUGAR MUST COVER THE ONIONS.

Medicinal value of Heinsia crinata or Bush Apple

Botanical name; Heinsia crinata, known in English as Bush Apple. In Akwa Ibom and Cross River State of Nigeria it is known as Atama. Description The tropical plant is 8-13 meters tall. The plant is harvested as a local source of food and materials. It is sometimes cultivated as a vegetable for its leaves. Edible Uses: The leaves are commonly sliced, pounded and cooked as soup. Sometimes melon or okro can be added to its soup. Medicinal Uses: The root of the plant is a good cure for arthritis and rheumatism and can relief severe chest pain. Get some quantities of the root, cut it into smaller parts and half crushed. Afterwards, put it in a bottle of Gin or Whisky for long preservation. After six hours, you can take a shot of it equivalent to 20ml for adult twice a day. For people who don't take alcohol, you can crate or grind some root quantities into a glass of water filter and drink ¼ quantity of it twice a day.

Cucubita pepo AND ITS MEDICINAL USE

Today's nature discussion is on the plant called Cucurbita pepo. It is known in English as Pumpkin and in Akwa Ibom state, the South-South part of Nigeria in West Africa,it is locally known as Ndise. DESCRIPTION Cucurbita pepo, which encompasses summer squashes including zucchini, yellow crookneck, pattypan, and spaghetti, as well as some types of winter squash and pumpkin (Delicata squash, autumn pumpkin), is a frost-intolerant annual plant in the gourd family (Cucurbitaceae). Native to Mexico and North America, it is now widely cultivated in warm areas worldwide as a food and animal fodder. Its leaves are more or less round with five deep lopes and serrated edges. It has a solid dark green or yellow-green or with grey-green markings. MEDICINAL USES 1. It is used to treat and heal fire burns on skin. In case of any incidence of fire burns, large quantities of the leaves is squeezed and the chlorophyll extract from the leaves is applied to the burns for rapid healing.

Chaya leaves and its amazing health benefits

 You may have heard about the above plant, but have never thought about its health benefits. The botanical name is "Jatropa tanjorensis". In English, it is known as Chaya plant, but in Nigeria it is commonly called " Hospital too far".  "Hospital too far", as the name implies is eaten as soup or added to food we cook.  Its health benefit is enourmous which include ; Antibacterial function, Antifungal and Antihypertensive. The importance of this vegetable to human nutrition and wellness is still not fully harnessed and given its due place. It is still one of nature’s underutilized herbs in this part of the world.  Jatropha tanjorensis is an excellent BLOOD BUILDING herb and as such can be recommended to treat ANEMIA in young and old. It supports SPERMATOGENESIS (formation of sperm cells in the testes) .    How Can You Fully Utilize this plant?
